Pamela's training background

Restaurant performance to live music

Pamela began her study of Middle Eastern dance in 1990 under Rahma in Vancouver, and has studied for two years with Yazila in the Netherlands.

Since 2003, Pamela has studied with Tascheleia, Alina and Viraj in Edmonton, plus intensive workshops with Sabura, Nath Keo, Amir Thaleb, Hadia, Horacio Cifuentes and Rahma.

Other dance workshops under her belt include both Turkish and Moorish (Spanish-Arabic) styles under Yazila, improvisational communication with Margot Vossen, Roma (Gypsy) dance and song with Gusztáv Balázs and Elsa Grollé, and a rhythm intensive with live Kurdish drummers.

Pamela has been a member of the University of Alberta’s Middle Eastern and North African Music Ensemble since September 2007.
